Its a big change from HRT and so far Im realy enjoying the challenge.
Clipsal was a great start to the season. It was a tough weekend right from the start as we still had a lot of new stuff to try on the car and with the limited practice time available at a race meeting its always hard to manage the testing and fine tuning in a practice session.
We were a bit behind with the setup going into qualifying and we ended up making spring changes during the qualifying session to try and get the car sorted.
In the end given the situation it was a good result to qualify 11th. I would normaly be fairly angry with not making the top ten but I felt like 11 was a good acheivment given that we only just made the top 20 part of the session.
The races were a case of survival and getting points. The car was really hard on it rear tires in race on and it was a bit of a struggle. I worked extremely hard the whole race but got turned around late in the race and ended up around 15th.
We made some more improvements for race 2 and the car was starting to feel better. Again we didn’t have the pace to drive into the top five but after staying out of all of the carnage I ended up there anyway.
Overall we learn a huge amount about the car and the direction we need to head with it and to come out of Clipsal 5th in the Championship is a great start.
For Eastern Creek We have another reasonably big list of things to get through in practice but as the next few rounds come up it will start to get a lot easier.
The goal Eastern creek is to try and get into the top ten in qualifying and then have three clean races to try and cement ourselves in the top 5 in the series.
