TODD AND RICK KELLY MAKE SENSATIONAL DEBUT WITH NEW TEAM IN ADELAIDE

Jamie Whincup won today's opening Clipsal 500 race ahead of Lee Holdsworth and Will Davison.

JACK DANIEL'S RACING QUOTEBOARD

Rick Kelly - #15 Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodore

"The cool suits are a little bit of a temperamental item in the cars and it's not the first time I've had problems with them," said Rick Kelly.

"The water basically stopped pumping so there could be a bit of a blockage or something like that and it didn't work for the whole race.

"It was unfortunate because it heats up quite quickly in the cars so the conditions in the car were far from ideal.

"I'm drained, but I'm still pretty stoked that both of our cars finished in the top 10 and it was also a great job by Dale to finish 14th after yesterday. Jack had some good pace as well and was quite strong as well.

"Our car's handling extremely well and it was capable of staying in front of those cars that we managed to get in front of before the cool suit problem started to hurt us.

"To be honest the whole team has done a great job just to get here and finish in the top 10 with two new Jack Daniel's Commodores.

"That's about the best we could have hoped for but both Todd and I have to start back in the field again with the new qualifying rules for this year.

"It doesn't favour progression through the weekend, which is a bit of a bummer so we'll have to fight through again tomorrow."

Todd Kelly - #7 Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodore

"We sorted the gearbox drama out from yesterday, which was good because it would have been a long old race if we hadn't sorted that out," said Todd Kelly.

"The car was an improvement from yesterday. The biggest drama was the speed of the engine coming off the corners.

"It had a bit of a misfire so it was quite difficult to dive in on someone under brakes and not lose it again on the straight.

"We'll sort that for tomorrow so overall if we had everything spot on we would have been right on the pace.

"We're not really disappointed at all with that performance. It was good to get a few points and finish well.

"We've just got to do it all again tomorrow from 24th on the grid again."
