The younger of the Kelly brothers is confident of improving for tomorrow's second qualifying session and race for the weekend as he aims vault himself back into the top 10.
JACK DANIEL'S RACING QUOTEBOARD
TODD KELLY - #7 Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodore:
"I was fairly happy with the result at the end of that race given how the car was handling," said Todd Kelly.
"We were in diabolical trouble with understeer and I was really struggling to get the car turned in. I got absolutely pummeled off the start.
"So I was pretty happy that the Jack Daniel's Commodore hung on for so long with such bad balance.
"It's quite promising because we were only one change off having a really fast car. I'm more confident about tomorrow because we think we can definitely improve the car's pace for Sunday.
"We've saved a fresh set of greens for qualifying tomorrow and have a lot better idea of what to do with the car so we look forward to seeing where we can get to.
"It was hot today but I don't need to go on a drip or anything like that. I will just smash as many bottles of Gatorade as I can and get on the water and Gatorade flat out all night and all morning. I should be good as new for tomorrow and ready to go again.
"We will need to have the car better as it will be a longer race, so you will need to look after your tyres."
RICK KELLY - #15 Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodore:
"Realistically, with the tyre dramas and a couple of minor niggles with the car yesterday we really only got to try one change between when we got here and the race," said Rick Kelly.
"It's a bit hard given we didn't have as good a base set-up as we would like, but the car's pace was pretty good.
"The tyres we started on we knew were really bad and we had to start on them, we had no choice.
"Given that we got punted around a couple of times out there, 14th is not too bad. We could have finished a little higher if we had a clean run so tomorrow it's up to me to qualify the car better now that we have learned some things from this race.
"We should be able to finish well and truly in the top 10 and we are aiming to get back into the top five. We'll make a couple of improvements and aim to be a lot better tomorrow.
"I've pulled up OK after that race given I have had a cold all week. It's just that it is really hot out there in the car. It's the same for everyone but I will make sure that I look after myself and rehydrate properly tonight."
